LAKEWOOD RECREATION CLUB

BY-LAWS

Article 1: Officers

 

  1. The officers of the Board shall be the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. These shall be chosen by the Board’s members annually.

 

  1. The Secretary shall keep the minutes for each meeting; provide a copy of the last minutes to all the members at each meeting and send out all correspondence to all members. 

 

  1. The Treasurer shall keep the account balanced, write checks needed to maintain the Club and Pool and provide a copy of the Treasury Report to all members at each meeting.

 

Article 2: The Board of Directors

 

2.1 The Board will consist of 7 members, which includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

 

2.2 Each member of the Board shall be a Member of the Lakewood Recreation Club.

 

2.3 In order for an item to be put before the Board for a vote, a quorum of 4 Board members, and the President must be present at the meeting. The President of the Board shall vote only in the event of a tie. 

 

2.4 The Board shall meet the call of the President.

 

2.5 The Board shall call a General Membership Meeting in March, and from time to time as may be required. The Board shall call an Annual Election Meeting in October at a time and place to be set by the Board for the purpose of electing members to the Board of Directors. 

 

Article 3: Election of the Board

 

3.1 The Board shall be elected at the Annual Election Meeting in October

3.2 At least one week prior to the Annual Election Meeting, The Secretary shall notify the membership in writing of the time and place of the meeting. 

 

3.3 At least 4 weeks prior to the Annual Election Meeting, the President shall appoint a nominating committee consisting of three (3) Club Members to nominate persons from the membership to fill anticipated vacancies on the Board. 

 

3.4 At each Annual Election Meeting, a minimum of two (2) and maximum of three (3) Board Members shall be elected for three (3) year term limits. Board members who are ending their term limit may be re-elected by the majority of the members present at the Annual Election Meeting. A re-elected Board member may not hold the same position. 

 

3.5 There shall be only one (1) Board Member elected from each family. If a Board member is unable to attend a Board Meeting, an adult member of the same household may attend the meeting in place of the absent Board member. 

 

3.6 In a case of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice President shall succeed to the office. In the case of a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, or Board member, the vacancy shall be filled by the Board of Directors at its next regular meeting. A three-fourth (3/4) vote, or 4 members of the entire Board, excluding the President shall be necessary to fill a vacancy.

 

3.7 The President shall set up committees and appoint chairmen with Board approval.

 

Article 4: Members

 

4.1 Each membership shall consist of one family: husband, wife, (or head of household), and all children (residing at home or residing elsewhere for educational or military services). Grown children and grandchildren of a member, not residing at the member’s home, may use the facilities as a guest, not requiring the presence of the member. A membership is entitled to one vote in the Club, which may be cast by any member of the family that is of legal age. 

 

4.2 Families who own property in Lakewood, Schallodin, or Timberlane subdivisions are eligible to become members of the Lakewood Recreation Club. Families living outside Lakewood, Schallodin, and Timberland may apply for membership pending approval  from the LRC board. 

 

4.3 Families who rent in Lakewood, Schallodin, and Timberlane subdivisions may be accepted on a season to season basis.

 

4.4 Renters who are accepted into the Club are not eligible to be elected to the Board of Directors, nor shall they hold an office within the Club

 

4.5 All members must review the By-Laws and the Rules of Lakewood Recreation Club. The  member must complete an application and sign an agreement to comply with the By-Laws and the Rules. 

 

4.6 Any member who has sold or transferred his/her property in Lakewood, Schallodin, and Timberlane subdivisions may continue his membership by paying regular dues; however, the membership fee is non-refundable.

 

4.7 A membership family living in Lakewood, Schallodin, or Timberland is entitled to one vote in the club, which may be cast by any member of the family that is of legal age. 

 

Article 5: Finance

 

5.1 Membership fee shall be Three Hundred Fifty Dollars ($350.00).  All fees must be paid before receiving access to Lakewood recreational Club amenities. 

 

5.2 Members receive no pool key until membership is paid in full.  Members will be charged a fee of $5 for a key.

 

5.3 The Board of Directors has the power to assess an annual maintenance fee, with the amount to be determined by the board.

 

Article 6: Discipline & Resignation 

 

6.1 The Board of Directors shall be vested with the power to censure, suspend and/or expel members for conduct, which in the opinion of the Board of Directors is detrimental to the good order, welfare or reputation of the Club, except that no sentence shall be imposed unless voted on by 4 members of the entire Board of Directors and that no member shall be disciplined without an opportunity to appear before the Board of Directors to hear his charges and defend himself. Disciplinary action is comprised of the following.

6.1.1. 1st Offense:  Written Warning

6.1.2. 2nd Offense:  15 Day Suspension

6.1.3. 3rd Offense:  Expulsion for the Remainder of the Year with no refund, provided a majority of board members approve. 

 

Article 7: Guest & Pool / Park Rental Rules

 

7.1 A resident of Lakewood, Schallodin, and Timberlane subdivisions who is not a member shall not be a guest. 

 

7.2 All members will be responsible to pay a fee of $2.00  (cash or online via Lakewoodrec.com) for each guest at the time of use.

 

7.3 Members shall be responsible for the conduct of their guest(s). Members must be present with guests at all times.  

 

7.4 Members/non-members must rent the Pavilion and Pool for parties of 10 guests or more. Contact a board member to make arrangements.

7.4.1 The price will be $75.00 for a maximum of 3 hours. A lifeguard must be hired for the duration of the event and is the renter’s responsibility. Renters are responsible for any and all damages. Members may use the pool even if the pool is rented.

7.4.2 The price for rental of the pool and pavilion for a private function, not allowing use of the pool by other members for a maximum of three hours, shall be $200 for members and $400.00 for non-members. Renters are responsible for providing one (1) lifeguard for every 25 people.

7.4.3 Any person having a party or renting should contact a board member to make arrangements. A rental agreement must be signed and given to a board member.

 

Article 8: Amendments

 

8.1 These By-Laws may be amended by vote of ¾ (three-fourth) of the Board of Directors, or 4 Board Members.
